Tag, we’re it!

We were tagged by our new friend and fellow Manitoban Alison at Prairie Story  to take part in this great little game of “get to know you”.  The rules are pretty simple, we answer the 8 questions asked by Alison and in turn, pose 8 questions of our own to 8 new bloggers! Pretty cool! Here we go:

1. What inspired you to start a blog?

My inspiration for this blog is my Mother, Claudia and my Baba, Mary. There isn’t a better way to bond with your family and understand your cultural roots than cooking with them. I came to the realization that in order to pass along as many of our family’s stories and cultural Ukrainian elemments, I had to first learn them myself. I figured what better way to learn my mother’s “food secrets” than to write a blog and share it with others. 

2. What is your all time favorite food to eat?

Chocolate and perogies. Not necessarily together 🙂

3. If you could take a trip any where in the world where would it be?

Claudia would easily say Australia. I would have to say Italy.

4. Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Tough question!  I really like Sandra Bullock, so let’s go with her!

5. What has been your worst kitchen or cooking disaster?

I once put hot chili flakes in super hot oil. In my defense, the recipe clearly stated to do so! Neeless to say, the smoke point on the oil was low and my kitchen (and lungs) were filled with hot, spicy,  firey steam. I couldn’t stop coughing for an hour!

6. What is your favorite restaurant?

Don Giovanni in New York City. The best pizza I’ve ever had. The portions are insane, but delicious!

7. What will you do for yourself today?

Relax in front of the TV 🙂  Doesn’t happen too often.

8. What will you do today to “pay something forward” or “random act of kindness”?
